a little favor

I'm working on a little research right now, and I was just wondering if you would be so kind as to take a minute or two to take this little wedding invitation survey for me. It would be much much appreciated!

Sperry turns one!

The Dog Lady...?

You know those somewhat pretentious individuals who buy overly priced rhinestone collars and holiday sweaters for their pooches? Sip their coffee from "I LOVE MY DOG" mugs? Well, I always thought those poeple were a little out there. But sometimes I wonder, if Sperry was smaller and husband did not have a say in Sperry's wardrobe, or lack thereof, would I be one of them? I'm glad husband unknowingly keeps me in check and I'm glad my dog is a little too large for fake burberry plaid jackets, but I get those people and sometimes I wonder, could I secretly be one of them?

Everyone knows a cat lady, but do you think a dog lady exists? Is there such a thing as a person with too many dogs? Because if so, I think i'm headed down the dog lady path. We have 8 dogs living with us right now. No, that was not a typo. We do in fact have 8. Husband's family dog just had 5 puppies last week. They are about the sweetest things in this world (aside from husband and Sperry). They make the cutest little noises and coos, and I can't help but scrunch my face and squint my eyes when I'm around them (or write about them- I just scrunched and squinted.) My voice gets all high and I start with the baby talk. Why? No idea people, it just comes out.

More pictures to come.

Got me some new running kicks.

Alas! I have decided to become a runner, despite my aversion to it.  I've scouted out a 10k at the end of march and a 1/2 marathon towards the end of the year.  I'm on the right track. (weak pun intended)

Yesterday I ventured off to Luke's Locker for some new running kicks.  The people of Luke's Locker know so much about running shoes, go figure.  They have you take your shoes off, watch how you walk and recommend the best shoes for your feet. Quite the experience.

Went on my first run last night. Sperry joined me.

Saw this on The Color Issue today. Wish I had seen it earlier! Dallas is sold out!

a Valentine's that needed a little tweaking.

So often things do not go as planned. life happens. and I keep learning from my sweet husband that's ok.

I told husband I wanted to plan Valentine's this year, and he didn't mind in the slightest.
I eagerly planned a trip to Dallas...

But unfortunately we got a late start, hit some major traffic... and by missing our first stop of the day, things would not have worked our from then on.

I was pretty bummed and felt like I had failed miserably at planning our Valentine's.

My sweet Valentine cheered me up, picked up the pieces and took me out for a night in Fort Worth. It was as if he had planned it all along.

We started off with a Starbucks run for a little needed hot tea.  Then we made our way to the modern art museum. I've been begging husband to take me for months. It was very... interesting. Not what I had expected. At all. Next stop? A little Cajun place for some frog legs, rat toes (not actually rat toes), shrimp, and craw fish... loved everything except for the frog legs. People say frog legs taste like chicken, and they are very wrong. They are rubbery and soft and all I could think about while eating those frog legs was a little yellow slimy frog leaping in the rainforest. blah. Then we went to see the flick This Means War.  I give it 4 stars.  We ended the night with a little chocolate and Martinelli's.

Husband suggested that he plans next year's Valentine's... and I'm ok with that! :)

Man, I love him.

In which nightly ramblings give me quite a chuckle

Husband would most likely not approve of this post... but I just can't help myself.

Ever since I became a puppy mom (soon to be puppy grandma, yikes) I have been on high alert and always vigilant. I used to sleep through fire alarm sounding alarm clocks and thunder storms. Now I wake up to the faintest noises. If Sperry even moves from his spot by our bed over to his pillow, I know. If he rumbles in his sleep (which we refer to as a quiet bark where his mouth doesn't quite open but his cheeks puff out) I know. Needless to say, if my husband stirs in his sleep, usually I know. Especially if he does a little more than just stir... like talk in his sleep for instance.... Husband is a big sleep talker... to my delight. I find it borderline the funniest thing in this world. Ah it's good night when I get a good chuckle out of his nightly ramblings. Sometimes I go along with what he's saying and try to coax more funnies out of him. But a lot of the time I can hardly make out what he is saying or trying to say, and it makes absolutely no sense, like this one...

Luke: watch out! you got to be careful!
Me: of what??
Luke: of kids in the marketplace and stuff.  There's a lot....
Me: a lot of what??
Luke: a lot of pages and stuff!

or this one...

Luke: hahahaha (sitting up and just cracking up) I love you!!!
Me: (trying not to laugh) what is so funny??
Luke: what do you mean what is so funny?
Me: well what are you laughing at?
Luke: Just the fact that you have stuff popping out of the side of your thing for CEO!

what??

After his nightly ramblings, I used to think to myself, he is going to laugh so hard when I tell him this in the morning! But I could rarely remember what he said... I am usually half asleep too when it happens. So what did I do? I started writing them down in my iphone... call me crazy, wait, no don't. Husband is the crazy one here. But I love him, dearly. Clearly.

What will NY152 say today, I wonder.

"....I turn on my computer. I wait impatiently as it connects. I go online, and my breath catches in my chest until I hear three little words: You've got mail. I hear nothing. Not even a sound on the streets of New York, just the beating of my own heart. I have mail. From you."

If you have not already gathered, You've Got Mail is my favorite. And this sweet blogger over here, wrote so beautifully about miss Kathleen Kelly. I think you need to take a peek.

Pantone 17-1463

Did you hear? Pantone's color of the year is Tangerine Tango! What a bold cheerful color to start off the year, don't you think? Yes, I am well aware it is more than halfway through January and I'm still talking about the new year. Please don't judge my early onset of procrastination. Don't worry I did indeed set some goals for the year. One of which I'm very stoked about. Ready for this? cooking.  I don't mind cleaning, laundry, baking or any of the other domestic duties but cooking happens to be my least favorite. Lucky for my husband, I have decided to change that. My goal this year is to learn to LOVE to cook. Hefty goal, but it must be done. So here's to you, tangerine tango year of 2012. Show me what you got!

(and of course, kate spade heels to top it off)

Bring on the cold

I can hardly believe Christmas is this weekend!  Usually it is snowing and bitterly cold about this time of year.  It doesn't quite feel right to be rushing around the few days before christmas in 50-60 degree weather. I was listening to the radio on my way to work this morning, "Today is the first official day of winter! So be sure to grab yout coats and bundle up because it's not going to get above 60 today!"  haha What?  As much as I love Texas, I miss the snow.  So heres to you, first day of winter! Bring on the cold!

Love this guy.

This past weekend marked our one year anniversary!  Husband surprised me with dinner at one of my favorites and tickets to The Nutcracker!! It was a perfect night.

So often you hear the first year goes by so fast, and it did, but then I look back some more and so much has happened in this one year.  One year does not seem long enough for all that has happened to have happened. This has been the best year of my life. It is absoultely crazy how you can love someone more and more everyday, it just keeps getting better and better. I love this guy. Happy Anniversary lover.

P.S. Anniversary dinner and night out counts as dates 4, 5 and 6 of our 12 dates of christmas! :)

Pinterest Picks

I'm pretty sure I have a love hate relationship with this little website called Pinterest. Don't get me wrong, I totally love her and she has so many fabulous things to share, but she can be a little selfish at times and demands so much of my time!  Sometimes I sit down with her for a little one on one, you know, see whats new, and 30 minutes goes by like that! (snap your fingers) and before you know it, it has been an entire hour! Geez lady, calm down! Why must you be so pinteresting?  Get it? haha well here a few of my pinterst picks for the week!

Wednesday Nights

There are not a whole lot of TV shows I find worthy enough to DVR or sit and watch... except these:
  • Supernanny- when I have kids, I'll know how to discipline.
  • anything on HGTV because creativity fuels
  • Whose Line is it Anyway- I laugh so hard I cry when I watch this.
  • Sometimes Dr. Oz
  • Criminal Minds used to be a big one, but I legit started getting a little too scared. I had to cut it out cold turkey.
  • MODERN FAMILY- too many reasons, but here is one:

When Wednesday night rolls around, all else gets put aside for 30 minutes and this is what matters.  Modern family.

All you need is...

I've always been a little interested in green cleaning, but it wasn't until my throat burned after cleaning my bathroom, that I decided I needed to make some changes.  My doll of a friend, Annie, from Naturally Sweet Recipes, is the all natural guru.  So naturally (no pun intended), I turned to her for some tips and suggestions. What did Annie have to say? All you need is Baking Soda and Vinegar.  That's it. Simple enough right? Well I gave it a shot yesterday--I cleaned my bathroom with only vinegar and baking soda and guess what.... it worked!  How?  Sprinkle baking soda on the area you are about to clean, and then spray the area with your vinegar solution (one part vinegar, one part water) The baking soda will fizzle when you spray it, making a little paste of a cleaning solution. Then scrub away. For mirrors, simply spray your vinegar solution and wipe.  I was shocked at how well it actually worked. No streaks!

Do you clean green?  What do you use?

TWELVE DATES OF CHRISTMAS :: on our second date of christmas...

(Saw this idea on Rockstar Diaries and decided to borrow it.)
... Husband and I went out for dinner and a movie. Twas a delightful date.

Husband doesn't have any classes on Friday, so we hit up a matinee and saw the movie New Years Eve.  It had quite the cast! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw my favorite, Sarah Jessica Parker!  I had absolutely no idea she was in this movie.  My review? 3.75 stars. It was good, not great, and I've been in such a Christmasy mood lately, this movie just did not hit the spot.

Here are a couple of pictures from dinner-- We went to a little burger joint called Kincaids Hamburgers. I've seen a few around Fort Worth, but I'm pretty sure we went to the original. Very tasty. My review? 4.5 stars.

This is our pathetic attempt to take more pictures... in my defense, husband would not pose for a picture (he was watching TV) Lame excuse, I know. We will try and work on the whole picture thing.

Happy Weekend.

Bundle up Ya'll! (I can say ya'll now because I live in Texas)

Tonight is going to be a chilly one. So bundle up, grab some hot chocolate or hot apple cider and curl up on the couch with a Christmas movie --- that's my plan anyway.  First I'll put on a chunky sweater, (like this one ^) then heat up some hot apple cider in the cocoa motion, grab my favorite blanket, (the one grandma made for me) pick out a movie, (hopefully the Santa Clause or Christmas Vacation!) grab my husband and my puppy, curl up on the couch and watch away.

Or you can be like Buddy the Elf... "First we'll make snow angels for a two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle!"
