Bring on the cold

I can hardly believe Christmas is this weekend!  Usually it is snowing and bitterly cold about this time of year.  It doesn't quite feel right to be rushing around the few days before christmas in 50-60 degree weather. I was listening to the radio on my way to work this morning, "Today is the first official day of winter! So be sure to grab yout coats and bundle up because it's not going to get above 60 today!"  haha What?  As much as I love Texas, I miss the snow.  So heres to you, first day of winter! Bring on the cold!

Love this guy.

This past weekend marked our one year anniversary!  Husband surprised me with dinner at one of my favorites and tickets to The Nutcracker!! It was a perfect night.

So often you hear the first year goes by so fast, and it did, but then I look back some more and so much has happened in this one year.  One year does not seem long enough for all that has happened to have happened. This has been the best year of my life. It is absoultely crazy how you can love someone more and more everyday, it just keeps getting better and better. I love this guy. Happy Anniversary lover.

P.S. Anniversary dinner and night out counts as dates 4, 5 and 6 of our 12 dates of christmas! :)

Note to Self:

Pinterest Picks

I'm pretty sure I have a love hate relationship with this little website called Pinterest. Don't get me wrong, I totally love her and she has so many fabulous things to share, but she can be a little selfish at times and demands so much of my time!  Sometimes I sit down with her for a little one on one, you know, see whats new, and 30 minutes goes by like that! (snap your fingers) and before you know it, it has been an entire hour! Geez lady, calm down! Why must you be so pinteresting?  Get it? haha well here a few of my pinterst picks for the week!

Wednesday Nights

There are not a whole lot of TV shows I find worthy enough to DVR or sit and watch... except these:
  • Supernanny- when I have kids, I'll know how to discipline.
  • anything on HGTV because creativity fuels
  • Whose Line is it Anyway- I laugh so hard I cry when I watch this.
  • Sometimes Dr. Oz
  • Criminal Minds used to be a big one, but I legit started getting a little too scared. I had to cut it out cold turkey.
  • MODERN FAMILY- too many reasons, but here is one:

When Wednesday night rolls around, all else gets put aside for 30 minutes and this is what matters.  Modern family.

All you need is...

I've always been a little interested in green cleaning, but it wasn't until my throat burned after cleaning my bathroom, that I decided I needed to make some changes.  My doll of a friend, Annie, from Naturally Sweet Recipes, is the all natural guru.  So naturally (no pun intended), I turned to her for some tips and suggestions. What did Annie have to say? All you need is Baking Soda and Vinegar.  That's it. Simple enough right? Well I gave it a shot yesterday--I cleaned my bathroom with only vinegar and baking soda and guess what.... it worked!  How?  Sprinkle baking soda on the area you are about to clean, and then spray the area with your vinegar solution (one part vinegar, one part water) The baking soda will fizzle when you spray it, making a little paste of a cleaning solution. Then scrub away. For mirrors, simply spray your vinegar solution and wipe.  I was shocked at how well it actually worked. No streaks!

Do you clean green?  What do you use?

TWELVE DATES OF CHRISTMAS :: on our second date of christmas...

(Saw this idea on Rockstar Diaries and decided to borrow it.)
... Husband and I went out for dinner and a movie. Twas a delightful date.

Husband doesn't have any classes on Friday, so we hit up a matinee and saw the movie New Years Eve.  It had quite the cast! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw my favorite, Sarah Jessica Parker!  I had absolutely no idea she was in this movie.  My review? 3.75 stars. It was good, not great, and I've been in such a Christmasy mood lately, this movie just did not hit the spot.

Here are a couple of pictures from dinner-- We went to a little burger joint called Kincaids Hamburgers. I've seen a few around Fort Worth, but I'm pretty sure we went to the original. Very tasty. My review? 4.5 stars.

This is our pathetic attempt to take more pictures... in my defense, husband would not pose for a picture (he was watching TV) Lame excuse, I know. We will try and work on the whole picture thing.

Happy Weekend.

Bundle up Ya'll! (I can say ya'll now because I live in Texas)

Tonight is going to be a chilly one. So bundle up, grab some hot chocolate or hot apple cider and curl up on the couch with a Christmas movie --- that's my plan anyway.  First I'll put on a chunky sweater, (like this one ^) then heat up some hot apple cider in the cocoa motion, grab my favorite blanket, (the one grandma made for me) pick out a movie, (hopefully the Santa Clause or Christmas Vacation!) grab my husband and my puppy, curl up on the couch and watch away.

Or you can be like Buddy the Elf... "First we'll make snow angels for a two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle!"

TWELVE DATES OF CHRISTMAS :: on our first date of christmas...

(Saw the idea on rockstar diaries, and decided to borrow it. )

... husband and I made a gingerbread house!

This little gingerbread house is our work of art. Husband thought we were supposed to eat it when we were done decorating... what? Nah, this proud sucker will stick around for the whole holiday season!

We may have failed to take more pictures, but we'll do better on our second date of christmas.

I've got a thing for bows & stripes.

There is just something about bows and stripes. The bigger, the bolder, the better. They are quite the statement maker. Romantic. Sexy. Classy. Modern. Child-like. Whimsical. Whatever you want them to be, they will. Here is a little eclectic collection of bows and stripes via my pinterest and tumblr. enjoy.

For the love of bows and stripes!

A puppy lives here.

(somebody stole the toilet paper roll and decided to rip it up all over mom & dad's bedroom )

Well it's been quite a while since I've posted pictures of Sperry, my oh so cute puppy (who is not so much a puppy anymore) so I thought I'd catch you up a bit.

This is what you have been missing...

First time hunting!

He sleeps for the majority of car trips, and looks like this if you wake him up.

He can jump on the bed just fine during the day when he's wild and hyper, but for some reason at night when he's ready for bed he refuses to jump up on his own and does this..

He gets pretty ashamed during bath time.

When Auntie Lauren came for a visit!

:La la love this puppy!

Dear Monday

It has been quite rainy, dreary, and cold here in texas, and I may have hit the snooze button three too many times this morning.  It just felt like the perfect day to sleep in, you know? so to combat my earky dislike of this frigid monday morning, I found this little note. I sure hope it brings a little joy to your morning like it did to mine.

Decking the halls

Some people think Thanksgiving is a little too early to put up your Christmas tree, but not me!  I begged husband to get the tree down from the attic a few days before thanksgiving. I even went up into the attic and dragged the tree to the top of the stairs, making it a tad less of a haul for husband to bring it down.  Finally, at the end of the day husband gave in after bribing him with the idea he didn't need to help put it up... That was a mistake. For this Christmas tree is 9 feet tall, and I am just a wee little 5 feet tall. It definitely required the manly strength of a husband and luckily he really didn't mind helping out.  Who knew spreading apart branches would take so long. It took hours to put this thing up and it's pre-lit mind you. I think next year we'll go for a real tree.

Here it is folks, our fake tree- inherited from my mother in law, or maybe just borrowed, I'm not actually sure.

Story book ornaments. I found the idea on pinterest a few months ago and couldn't wait to get started. They were pretty time consuming, but it paid off- i love how they turned out!  want to see the inspiration? go here.

This is our first Christmas together as a married couple. Actually second, but last year didn't count. We had been married for a short week and we had other exciting things on our minds...  Needless to say, husband and I did not have stockings! So I did some intense pinteresting and googling.  I found a cute Amy Butler pattern, altered it, and made these Texas inspired suede stockings! One for me, husband, and Sperry!

This is the extent of my holiday decor. favorite thing? my stockings. Whats your favorite holiday decoration to put up?
